Assistant County Attorney I – Human Services

Performs professional entry-level legal work assisting the County Attorney in a variety of less difficult assigned legal matters regarding the statutory and constitutional duties of the county, including representing, advising and counseling county officials, departments, and boards regarding such duties.

Compensation: $5,930 - $8,895/month

Assistant County Attorney II – Human Services

Performs professional journey-level legal work assisting the County Attorney in handling a variety of moderately complex matters regarding the statutory and constitutional duties of the county, including representing, advising and counseling county officials, departments, and boards regarding such duties.

Compensation: $7,176 - $10,764/month

Assistant County Attorney III – Human Services

Performs advanced professional senior-level legal work assisting the County Attorney in all matters regarding the statutory and constitutional duties of the county, including representing, advising and counseling county officials, departments, and boards regarding such duties.

Compensation: $8,684 - $13,026/month

What You Will Do

The job duties vary based on the level of the position but generally include:

• Representing the County in administrative and judicial-related proceedings
• Advising County personnel on recommendations or required courses of action
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and legal documents
• Researching and drafting resolutions, county policies, ordinances, and legal opinions
• Monitoring changes in statutory, case law, and constitutional duties
• Prioritizing and determining specific projects and work activities
• Interacting effectively with individuals and groups at all levels
• Performing legal work representing the Department of Human Services in various matters
• Maintaining knowledge of Colorado statutes and court rules
• Performing other duties as appropriate or necessary for the performance of the job

What You Have

The qualifications vary based on the level of the position but generally include:

• Law degree from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in Colorado
• Experience in legal matters, preferably in a County or City Attorney's Office
• Knowledge of Children's Code and proceedings in child protection cases
