Responsibilities Expected of the Assistant Controller:
- Overseeing general ledger including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Leading month- and year-end close processes and preparing financial statements
- Managing compliance for federal, state, and local grants
- Preparing schedules for annual audits
- Supervising a team of 5 accounting staff
- Reviewing internal controls, suggesting and implementing process improvement
Background Expected of the Assistant Controller:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or experience equivalent (+4 years of experience)
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles
- Nonprofit industry experience highly preferred
