Assistant Controller

About the Opportunity:
We are partnering with a well-established, family-owned manufacturing company in the Schaumburg area seeking an Assistant Controller to join its accounting team. This is an opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional to take ownership of key accounting functions, improve processes, and contribute to a growing organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close.
- Experience with inventory and cost accounting preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong analytical skills and a hands-on, team-oriented approach.
- CPA preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily accounting operations, including general ledger management and financial reporting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Support inventory accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing-related financial analysis.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes.
- Support audits and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
