Assistant Controller – Private Equity

We are partnering with an established private equity firm that is looking to add an Assistant Controller to its finance team.

This is a strong opportunity for someone with private equity or alternative investment accounting experience who wants broader ownership, exposure to senior leadership, and the chance to work across both fund accounting and the overall finance function.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and reporting for private equity funds and related entities
• Review quarterly and annual financial statements, capital activity, and investor reporting
• Manage and review work performed by fund administrators and other third-party service providers
• Support capital calls, distributions, management fees, and carried interest calculations
• Coordinate with auditors, tax providers, and other external partners
• Assist with valuations, portfolio company activity, and investment-related accounting
• Help improve internal controls, reporting processes, and accounting procedures
• Partner closely with senior finance leadership on ad hoc projects and broader firm initiatives
• Mentor and review the work of junior accounting team members

Qualifications

• Approximately 6+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong private equity, venture capital, private credit, or alternative investment experience
• Public accounting and/or fund administration experience is a plus
• CPA preferred but not required
• Strong understanding of partnership accounting and investment fund structures
• Detail-oriented with strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable operating in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment
