Job Summary

Under general direction of the Controller, the Assistant Controller/Plant Controller is responsible for assisting month-end close, assisting financial activities and overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll, and general ledger accounting functions on a daily basis. This position will assist to develop and initiate systems, policies and procedures for transaction financial matters and ensure that the financial system is accurate, efficient and in accordance with professional accounting practices, governmental regulations and Park Aerospace policies and procedures. In addition, the Assistant Controller will participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports, which may include acquisitions and business unit support on an as needed basis.


Essential Job Functions

  • Assists the Corporate Controller in the daily banking requirements.
  • Works with the Corporate Controller to ensure clean and timely audits.
  • Assists with various consolidated internal reporting schedules on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Compiles and maintains the global data base of customer credit information for the purpose of identifying potential changes to credit exposures, and monitor customer accounts receivable aging relative to established credit limits.
  • Responsible for the monthly physical inventory process.
  • Work with manufacturing operations to communicate and investigate manufacturing variances, maintain Bills of Materials and process inventory transactions.
  • Assist with monitoring and analyzing department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Assists the accounting staff and other departments regarding the handling of non-routine transactions by researching and interpreting accounting policies, applying observations, and recommendations to operational issues.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations for the entire organization.
  • Provides training to new and existing staff as needed, monitors progress and advocates for Park Aerospace’s Culture.
  • This position is office based, 5 days per week. Relocation will not be provided for this role.


Education/Experience/Skills Required

  • B.S. Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Five or more years of progressive responsibility in accounting preferably in aerospace manufacturing.

  • This position requires normal dexterity, speech and hearing. Specific vision abilities required by this job require frequent use of a computer monitor
  • Be willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally, if needed, improving financial processes and systems. The role collaborates closely with finance, operations, and leadership teams to provide accurate financial information and support data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Strong financial accounting and reporting skills, including general ledger management, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks, with the ability to support audits and compliance activities.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide clear recommendations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in an Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant or similar role in manufacturing, aerospace, or related industries is highly beneficial.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and present financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
