Position Summary

The Department of Counseling and Educational Development in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro seeks a part‑time, 12‑month master’s‑level counselor for the role of Assistant Clinical Director in the Nicholas A. Vacc Counseling and Consulting Clinic (Vacc). The majority of the work will be performed in the clinic with some tasks at the department level. The successful candidate will provide clinical and administrative support, including consultation and supervision to counseling students, lead special projects supporting training such as program development, referral source expansion, and policy refinement. Responsibilities also include record keeping for compliance, on‑call crisis consultation during day or evening hours, general clinical consultation to trainees and supervisors, staff management, networking, and development of marketing and public‑relations materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling from a CACREP accredited program and at least two years of direct counseling experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain state licensure (LCMHC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • State licensure (LCMHC) preferred but not required at application.
  • Experience in counseling organization operations, including supervision of trainees or early‑career counselors, coordination of client care, and oversight of clinical and administrative processes.
  • Experience in crisis assessment and intervention, supporting trainees, implementing safety protocols, and ensuring appropriate documentation and follow‑up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing and Outreach : Develop, organize, and market clinical and outreach services, enhance marketing and social media to increase student access to mental health services.
  • Technology Management : Manage telehealth software, video recording tools, and electronic management systems.
  • Clinical Consultation : Provide on‑call crisis consultation and supervisory consultation to counselors‑in‑training.
  • Policy Development : Update, develop, and train staff and students on clinic policies and procedures.
  • Administrative Support : Assist in updating policies related to state licensure, collecting paperwork for internships and practicums, and maintaining certification programs.

Physical Effort and Work Environment

  • Reading, writing, vision tasks – negligible.
  • Standing, sitting, walking – minimal.
  • Inside office environment.
