Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology

Position Overview

Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology – North Carolina A & T State University, College of Health and Human Sciences.

We seek a faculty member with a Ph.D. in Neuropsychology. Preference will be given to candidates whose research aligns with substance use disorders, memory and cognition, applied psychology, or health psychology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses and graduate courses for the MS in Health Psychology and the Ph.D. in Applied Psychology, as well as to engage in research, teaching, and service activities consistent with the department’s goals.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate psychology courses with modern pedagogical techniques.
• Provide student-centered teaching, advising, and mentoring.
• Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment.
• Establish and sustain a strong, externally funded research program aligned with the candidate’s expertise.
• Produce an excellent record of scholarly publications.
• Supervise and support psychology students in independent research projects.
• Engage in service at the department, college, university, and appropriate community and professional organizations.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related sub-discipline at the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly research with a health-related focus.
• Strong commitment to promoting diversity, inclusiveness, and collaboration.
• Experience teaching at the collegiate level, preferably in psychology or related fields.

Preferred

• Research focus in substance use disorders, memory and cognition, applied psychology, or health psychology.
• Experience in securing external research funding.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
