Assistant/Associate Professor – Nursing
Position Overview
The School of Nursing, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University, is seeking an assistant/associate professor whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on community health. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and engagement in program assessment and accreditation-related procedures.
Responsibilities
- Establish and sustain a strong externally-funded research program in the candidate’s field of expertise.
- Produce an excellent record of scholarly publications.
- Incorporate modern pedagogical skills in teaching nursing courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
- Supervise and support undergraduate and graduate student projects.
- Provide service to the School of Nursing, the college and university, as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations.
Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of a PhD in nursing.
- Evidence of research leading to establishment and sustaining a strong research enterprise, and pedagogical skills to teach in areas relevant to nursing leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs or credentials to meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing’s educational requirement is required.
- Three years of clinical experience related to the concepts and theories essential in providing nursing care.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting and enhancing inclusiveness, collaboration, and diversity in alignment with the university’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing a diverse environment.
Required License or Certification
Must hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina or have eligibility to obtain a North Carolina Registered Nurse License if candidate is an advanced practice nurse. Must hold national certification.
Work Arrangement
On‑site. Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on‑site.
