Assistant/Associate Professor, Literacy (Tenured/TenureTrack)
Essential Job Functions
- Conducts a requisite number of classes; Teaches assignedsubjects
- Provides guidance and supervision to students
- Creates and maintains an environment conducive to excellence inteaching, learning and research
- Preparation and formulation of curricula focused on his/hersubject(s)
- Participates in departmental meetings and holds scheduledoffice hours
- Maintains equipment in the laboratory, makes arrangements forlaboratory practical sessions, and provides materials tostudents
- Provides academic support to other faculty members
- Serves on departmental and University committees, asassigned
- Other related duties, as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Doctor of Philosophy in ElementaryEducation, Literacy, Curriculum & Instruction or relatedfield
Minimum Experience
- Five (5) years’ teaching experience atthe college or university level
- Experience in literacy methods and special educationpreferred
- Experience advising students at the university level
Licenses/Certifications
- LETRS or equivalent training
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of Literacy Education Standards
- Vast knowledge of CAEP standards
- Demonstrated integrity
- Excellent communication skills, verbal, written andinterpersonal
- Strong time management skills
- Passion for teaching and engaging with students
- Skilled in mentoring students
- Ability to work well with colleagues and foster a collegialenvironment conducive to teamwork and students’ high level oflearning
