Job Overview
Full‑time, non‑tenure track positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate in the Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology Programs. Salary and rank will be commensurate with credentials.
Essential Functions
Assistant/Associate Professor – Educator
- Deliver high‑quality, innovative engineering pedagogy and student mentorship.
- Continuously improve the undergraduate curriculum and accreditation assessment.
Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice
- Provide instruction directly incorporating professional industrial experience to bridge the academic/industry divide.
- Establish and maintain relevant aspects of experiential learning throughout the undergraduate curriculum, including linking students’ experiences in co‑op with classroom learning.
Shared Responsibilities
- Primary focus on undergraduate teaching, accompanied by service expectations.
- Teaching responsibilities are determined by workload policies for undergraduate mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering technology courses each primary semester. Instruction may be delivered in a traditional classroom and/or laboratory setting.
- Service duties include committee membership, student mentoring, student group advising, accreditation assessment, and curriculum/program development.
Minimum Requirements
For Assistant/Associate Professor – Educator
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
For Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and six (6) years of direct industry experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and eight (8) years of direct industry experience.

- Connection of industrial and/or academic experience to teaching effectiveness.
