POSITION SUMMARY:The Assembly Department Manager is responsible for overseeing scheduling of production and daily operations within the assembly department, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role leads and develops the assembly team and drives continuous improvement initiatives and ensures alignment with overall company objectives.POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage and coordinate all assembly department activities to meet production schedules and targetsDevelop & oversee production scheduling. Monitor progress and adjust schedules as needed to address changes in demand, material availability, or staffing, ensuring targets for quality, cost, and delivery are consistently met.Supervise, train, and develop assembly team membersEnsures that assigned departments comply with company policies and safety standardsCoordinates with human resources to respond to employee concerns or complaintsMonitor workflow, staffing, and resource allocation to optimize productivity and efficiencyEnsure compliance with safety regulations and promote a strong safety cultureMaintain and improve product quality standards in collaboration with Quality AssuranceAnalyze production data and KPIs to identify areas for improvementImplement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiativesCollaborate with other departments to resolve issues and improve processesAddress employee concerns, conduct performance evaluations, and support employee engagementAll other duties assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESDirectly supervise and lead Process Technician Manager and Shift Team LeadsCoach and develop team leads to effectively managing their teams, including leadership skill development and accountability practicesEnsure consistent enforcement of company policies, procedures, and safety standardsParticipate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees within the departmentOversee staffing levels, scheduling, and shift coverage to meet production demandsProvide daily direction, prioritize work assignments, and ensure clear communication of production goals and expectationsConducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructiveAssists troubleshooting equipment or process issues.Partner with HR on employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions and conflict resolutionLead regular team meetings to communicate updates, address issues, and reinforce department objectivesEDUCATION & EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredFive years of related experience with at least two years of supervisory experience preferredKNOWLEDGEBringing People Together to Solve ProblemsAbility to Give Constructive CriticismSkilled at Building Trust with TeamsAbility to Think StrategicallyUsing Emotional IntelligenceCan Prioritize Tasks Effectively For Self and TeamComputer skillsCommon operating systemsSoftware proficiencyTechnical writingSKILLS & ABILITIESAbility to lead through othersStrong coaching and mentoring skillsExcellent verbal and written communicationProficient in Microsoft Office or related softwareExcellent organizational and attention to detailWorking knowledge of assembly equipment, tooling, and processesFamiliarity with ERP/MRP systems and production reporting toolsUnderstanding of quality systems and standardsOTHER REQUIREMENTS% OF TRAVEL REQUIRED: 25Note: % may be adjusted if required.Occasional Evenings:OCCASIONAL WEEKENDS:Occasional travel to training seminars, compliance workshops, or sister facilities.Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including evenings or weekends, as required by operational needs.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Exposed to work in manufacturing /machining area settings with exposure to oil, coolant, and metal residuesIntermittent exposure to sounds or noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortablePrimarily requires sitting but at times, requires long periods of standingAt times, work is completed in a manufacturing facility requiring appropriate protective equipment at all timesPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Lift and carry a maximum of 45 poundsWear protective eyewear and/or other protective gear correctlyPeriods of standing, sitting at a computer, walking, reaching, crouching, twisting, lifting and pushing
