Fiber Optic Cable Assembly TechnicianPerforms precision assembly, termination, polishing, and inspection of fiber optic cable assemblies and harsh environment connectivity products in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and manufacturing procedures.Performs specific job responsibilities:Assemble, terminate, polish, and inspect fiber optic cable assemblies and harsh environment connectivity products according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standardsPrepare and route optical fibers and components using precision hand tools, microscopes, gauges, and specialized assembly equipmentRead and interpret Bills of Material (BOMs), assembly drawings, manufacturing travelers, and process documentationIdentify and correct cosmetic, dimensional, and functional discrepancies in components and completed assembliesAccurately complete production, inspection, and traceability documentation in accordance with quality proceduresMaintain workmanship standards related to fiber handling, connector cleanliness, polishing quality, cable routing, and ESD/safety requirementsCollaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to support troubleshooting and continuous improvement effortsMaintain productivity and quality standards while working independently with limited supervision following trainingWork overtime as needed to support production schedules and customer requirementsPromotes OCC's service excellence and quality. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.
This job requires vision sufficient for completing quality work, reading comprehension and computer use. This work also requires hearing sufficient for normal workplace conversation and training. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
