ASRT Radiology Technologist - Part Time

Job Summary: Provide essential support to physicians and advanced providers in delivering patient care for episodic visits related to minor illnesses, injuries, or routine evaluations at an Immediate Care facility. The Radiology Technologist (RT) is responsible for obtaining diagnostic digital images, assisting with patient registration and discharge, data collection, treatment planning, patient education, follow-up, and supporting daily clinic operations under the guidance of an RN or provider.
Essential Responsibilities:
Registration/Discharge

• Expertly utilize current computer systems (Meditech, EMR, PACS) to facilitate patient care documentation and planning.
• Collect and verify insurance cards and photo identification.
• Ensure accuracy of diagnosis codes and procedural terminology for each patient encounter.
• Review billing details post-visit for correctness.
• Discuss plan of care with patients prior to discharge.
• Manage telephone communications in collaboration with providers or nursing staff.

Clinical Duties

• Prepare patients for examinations based on their chief complaints.
• Immediately notify RN or provider upon arrival of urgent or emergent patients for prompt assessment.
• Collect and document initial patient data in the electronic medical record following clinic policies.
• Assist in scheduling diagnostic procedures or appointments for further care.
• Obtain necessary authorizations for diagnostic testing such as PT, MRI, or Ultrasound.

Diagnostic Testing and Treatment

• Perform testing and treatments as delegated or per established protocols.
• Produce high-quality digital images acceptable to providers and radiologists.
• Adhere strictly to radiation safety standards to protect patients, self, and others.
• Operate and troubleshoot radiology diagnostic equipment proficiently.
• Follow radiology protocols for positioning, technique, and safety tailored to patient age groups.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately.
• Maintain laboratory competencies as required by CLIA, AAFP, and other regulatory bodies.
• Participate in proficiency evaluations initially and annually.
• Demonstrate skills in splinting, phlebotomy, urine drug screening, EKG testing, and other technical clinic operations.

Medication Administration

• Administer medications as directed by providers and document accordingly in the EMR.
• Ensure pharmaceutical records comply with regulatory and state standards.

Supplies Management

• Order clinic supplies from approved vendors to maintain required inventory levels.
• Use supplies efficiently and responsibly.

Education and Experience Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of a Limited or Associate Degree Radiology Technologist program; Associate degree preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, procedural, and diagnostic coding.
• Proficient computer user.
• Basic Life Support certification (may be obtained upon hire).
• Tuberculin Screening Tester Certification (may be obtained upon hire).
• At least one year of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in Family Medicine, Orthopedics, or Immediate Care.

Licensure/Certifications:
Must be certified by the state health department as required.
Work Schedule:
Part-time, varied shifts totaling approximately 24 hours per week.
This position is located in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
