Asphalt Roller OperatorCannonball Recruiting is seeking an experienced Asphalt Roller Operator for a York, PA Paving and Excavating company. This person will safely operate the heavy machinery to compact and smooth freshly laid asphalt.Location: York, PA (all local work with 1-hr from the shop)Shift: DaysPay: $30-40/hr. (based on experience level)Requirements:Minimum of (2) years' experience operating Breakdown Roller and Finish Rollers.Need to be able to understand the operations and process of running for commercial and roadwaysUnderstanding of compaction techniques, asphalt behavior, material properties, and temperature zones.Ability to work outdoors in various conditions.Valid driver's license and reliable transportationCDL is nice to have but not required; tanker endorsement is a plusJob Duties:Drive rollers (smooth drum, pneumatic tire) in overlapping passes to achieve required compaction and smoothness on asphalt and subgrade.Work with the paving crew, using hand/audio signals to coordinate speed, direction, and avoid interference.Monitor asphalt temperature and adjust machine settings (frequency, amplitude, water) to match mix design, thickness, and temperature for optimal compaction.Conduct daily pre- and post-operation checks, fluid/water system checks, and report mechanical issues to supervisors.Safely operate roller in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling asphalt to desired compaction and smoothness.Determine the speed and direction of the machine, based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures, so that ridges do not form by excessive pressure.Use a hand tamp or guide portable plate compactors over areas not accessible to a road roller.Operate the Breakdown roller to achieve proper compaction.Operate the Finish Roller in successive overlapping passes to apply the final finish and remove imperfections with a finish roller.Uphold strict safety guidelines, barricade freshly laid asphalt, and maintain awareness of surroundings and crew members.Responsible for daily checks of water systems and scrapers on the drums.Assist with setup/take-down, clean up, and potentially other duties as assigned.Benefits:Health / Dental / Vision InsurancePaid Time Off; Paid Holidays = 6Eligible for 401(k) after 1st Year (with company match up to 2%)Employer Paid Short Term DisabilityEmployer Paid Life Insurance 35k **(Additional Voluntary Life Insurance available)**FSA-Flexible Savings Accounts (pre or post-tax election)AFLAC – various plans/coverages availableTELADOC – U.S.
