Job Summary
Under the guidance of the Emergency Management & Security Manager, you will perform various security duties including patrolling hospital grounds, monitoring surveillance systems, enforcing policies, and responding to emergencies. Your role is vital in deterring incidents such as theft, vandalism, and violence, while supporting a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of patient care areas, parking lots, entrances, and other facilities to ensure safety.
- Control access to restricted areas, allowing only authorized personnel entry.
- Operate and monitor security equipment including cameras and intrusion detection systems.
- Provide assistance and information to patients, visitors, and staff with a customer-focused approach.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical incidents, disturbances, and security threats.
- De-escalate conflicts and use physical restraint techniques when necessary to prevent harm.
- Investigate and document security incidents thoroughly and accurately.
- Participate in safety drills and maintain compliance with security protocols.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of experience in a security-related role; healthcare experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- IAHSS Basic Certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification within 90 days of hire.
- Strong knowledge of emergency response and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Attention to detail in incident documentation.
- Customer service oriented with a professional demeanor.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to respond physically in emergency situations, including running and climbing stairs as needed.
Work Schedule
Part-time, weekend mid shifts from 12:00 PM to 12:30 AM on Saturdays and Sundays.
