ASHA Certified Speech-Language Pathologist/CFY STATUS: Exempt

Plan and provide direct speech therapy to students with speech, fluency, voice, or language disorders. Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with students' ability to derive full benefit from the educational program.

Master's degree in speech-language pathology or related field. Valid Texas license as a speech language pathologist or intern granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence or having met CFY requirements by ASHA.

Skill in the use of tests and measurements for assessing speech-language disorders. Knowledge of evaluation and remediation of speech, language, and hearing impairments. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel to multiple work locations as assigned. Experience in pediatric settings preferred.

Conduct evaluations with a multidisciplinary team, using a variety of valid and reliable instruments to determine recommendations for special education eligibility and programming. Participate in the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with interpretations of evaluation data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with speech impairments according to district procedures. Provide individual and/or group speech therapy services to students according to the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Collaborate with the educational team, including parents, to develop educationally relevant and measurable goals and service delivery models. Evaluate and monitor student progress to determine readiness for termination on speech therapy services. Meet federal, state, and local timelines for completing evaluation and IEP/ARD meetings as assigned. Clearly document all services provided, as required by the district for SHARS billing purposes. Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for maturity level, interests, and needs of the students. Provide training and technical assistance with augmentative and alternative communication to students, staff, and parents. Consult with outside personnel including private therapists and other medical professionals regarding the physical and medical needs of students as appropriate. Support and supervise Clinical Fellow, Graduate Externs, and Assistants as assigned by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and modeling ethical practices, professional conduct, and cultural competence (if applicable). Conduct regularly scheduled assessments of the supervisees' performance culminating in relevant recommendations for skills that need to be developed, refined and/or strengthened on shared performance review documentation (if applicable). Comply with all federal state, and local policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds). Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours. Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
