As a Certified Surgical Technologist, you will collaborate closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other surgical staff to ensure patient safety and efficient surgical procedures.
General Summary
This role involves preparing and assisting during surgical operations by using sterile techniques and specialized equipment. You will be responsible for setting up cases according to surgeon preferences, managing surgical instruments, and maintaining a sterile environment throughout the procedure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare surgical cases accurately using preference cards and appropriate instruments.
  • Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support surgical teams effectively.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques and demonstrate dexterity to anticipate and meet surgical team needs.
  • Operate sterilization equipment following established protocols.
  • Monitor and handle implantable devices with proper sterile technique.
  • Inspect and ensure all surgical equipment is functioning correctly before procedures.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and efficient workspaces while managing time effectively.
  • Perform delegated tasks under the direct supervision of surgeons to enhance patient safety and quality of care.
Education
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program is required.
Experience
Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Nurse is preferred but not mandatory.
Certification and Licenses
  • Current Surgical Technologist Certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Mental and Physical Requirements
This position requires significant mental focus and physical stamina, including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, and various movements such as turning, stooping, and reaching.
Working Conditions
Expect regular exposure to infectious diseases and occasional interactions with challenging individuals. The role involves handling blood and bodily fluids with appropriate precautions.
