General Summary
The Chemotherapy Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately compounding IVs, performing safety checks including appropriate labeling and visual inspections, and maintaining a clean and organized IV room. This position also involves restocking IV room carts, filling automated dispensing cabinets with high accuracy, and managing daily cleaning procedures for sterile environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Compound IV medications accurately and safely.
- Perform all safety checks during compounding and restocking processes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the IV room and related areas.
- Manage inventory by placing daily orders, checking deliveries, and handling invoices.
- Assist pharmacists with back-order management and documentation.
- Complete all required annual education and training.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
At least one year of sterile compounding experience is required; chemotherapy compounding experience is preferred.
Certification/License
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required. Candidates must register or apply for pharmacy registration prior to starting.
Mental and Physical Requirements
This role requires considerable mental focus for extended periods and physical ability to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 35 pounds.
