Candidates must reside within the South Region, which includes Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Southern Illinois, Western Tennessee, and the Greater St. Louis area. The Role
The Area Vice President of Sales will be responsible for regional field sales activities of Biodesix products within their Area. Experience with both direct selling to physicians and strategic selling to large practices and practice aggregators, the successful candidate will possess strong operational capabilities as well as the ability to rapidly adapt tactics in today’s changing health care environment. The candidate must also absorb new clinical data quickly, be comfortable presenting to clinical experts as well as business managers, and demonstrate the ability to attract, coach, and retain high‑performing personnel while aggressively managing costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Structure detailed strategic plans for gaining and retaining new and existing clients.
- Manage regional product sales team to meet sales goals and drive company revenue and customer service objectives.
- Partner with strategic marketing, medical affairs, and reimbursement to ensure maximum account penetration.
- Continuously analyze competitive landscape and environment to determine trends and provide customer feedback to the Vice President of Sales.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business plan for each product per territory, including personnel, budgets, travel, training, territory management, and goal setting.
- Work effectively with individuals across multiple departments throughout Biodesix.
- Embrace and represent the Biodesix culture at all times to internal and external constituents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the function or division of the organization.
- Lead leaders and high‑performing teams to achieve long‑term organizational goals.
- Oversee talent and culture strategies, including organizational design and change management.
- Represent the function of executive decision‑making and cross‑functional initiatives.

- Strong understanding of life sciences and molecular diagnostics for oncology and the evolving competitive landscape.
- Excellent knowledge of oncology, hematology, chemotherapeutics, and targeted agents.
- Outstanding knowledge of market, customer, distribution, and product knowledge for sales objectives.
- Proven ability to build and transform a sales team.
- Superior listening and solving skills.
- Experience integrating molecular diagnostic solutions for customers.
- Comfortable selling at the executive level (CEO, COO, CFO).
- Understanding of the payor and reimbursement environment in oncology.
- Excellent negotiation and customer‑service skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Positive attitude and understanding of growth and change dynamics.
- Impeccable oral and written communication.
- Regular cross‑functional communication and cooperation.
- Optimized use of Salesforce.com and other sales metrics.

- Strong administrative skills and aptitude for complex environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- B.S. in life science, biology, business or marketing – MBA preferred.
- 10–15 years of direct sales management experience in life sciences or molecular diagnostics with proven revenue performance.
- Demonstrated measurable revenue generation at either a diagnostic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology company.
