Job Summary
The Area Operations Manager is a pivotal leader responsible for overseeing inbound and outbound operations at their center location. Reporting to the General Manager or Assistant General Manager, this role ensures all teams and activities comply with safety and regulations. The manager promotes engagement, empowerment, and problem-solving among teammates.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with management to optimize operational efficiency.
- Manage inbound and outbound functions, monitor performance, and troubleshoot issues.
- Implement strategies for inbound freight, dock management, and safety protocols.
- Oversee truck yard operations, safety, and maintenance.
- Ensure safety regulations are followed to maintain a safe work environment.
- Train and develop staff to maximize efficiency and fill gaps as needed.
- Address supplier, delivery, and customer inquiries professionally and promptly.
- Work cross-functionally to resolve shipping and receiving errors.
- Protect company assets by proper equipment use and security checks.
- Monitor budget and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years’ experience in a distribution or similar environment.
- Over 1 year in a managerial role or leading teams.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with warehouse and logistics software.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields.
- Over 3 years’ experience in distribution centers.
- Proven leadership and quality assurance experience.
- Skills in lean six sigma, project management, and data analysis.
