A leading construction materials producer is seeking an experienced Area Manager to provide operational and strategic leadership across multiple aggregate operations in California.
This is a newly created position designed to strengthen frontline leadership, improve operational performance and support continued regional growth.
The Opportunity
The Area Manager will oversee surface sand and gravel mining and processing operations, including wash plants and dry processing facilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing Plant Managers, supervisors and frontline employees
- Improving production efficiency, throughput and cost performance
- Developing short- and long-term production plans
- Improving equipment reliability and preventative maintenance programs
- Supporting operating budgets, capital planning and performance forecasting
- Driving safety, environmental and regulatory compliance
- Standardising operational best practices across multiple facilities
- Developing future operational leaders and succession plans
- Maintaining a visible, hands‑on presence across the operations
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have:
- Significant aggregates, sand and gravel or surface mining experience
- Experience overseeing multiple plants or operational teams
- Strong knowledge of wash plants, dry plants and aggregate processing equipment
- Proven success improving production efficiency and equipment performance
- Experience leading Plant Managers, supervisors and frontline employees
- Strong production planning, budgeting and capital-project experience
- Experience operating within an MSHA-regulated environment
- A hands‑on, servant‑leadership approach
This position requires a credible frontline leader who can gain the trust of experienced operational teams, constructively challenge existing processes and implement sustainable improvements.
Candidates must currently be based in California or be willing to relocate within the state.
