Area Loss Prevention Manager (6-month contract)

Pay Range: $100,000 - $110,000 annualized

Location: Remote – Greater Vancouver, BC

The Area Loss Prevention Manager's (ALPM) is a temporary, 6-month position covering the greater Vancouver BC area and some surrounding Provinces.

The Temp ALPM's primary responsibility is to support and limit the organization's loss and maximize profits within their geographic assignment. The ALPM will support stores through the management of internal and external theft programs, while fostering collaborative business partnerships with all field management, help drive consistency among stores in implementing Savers' policies, procedures, and standards to maximize profits, asset protection and safety for customers and team members. His/her focus is on resolving underperforming stores that reveal trends of declining revenues and profits, increasing accident incidents and costs, and disturbing evidence of theft, violence and other negative team members or customer behaviors. The ALPM adds value by implementing the loss prevention Risk Index, store visit, and audit process providing his/her unique and powerful perspective within their functional discipline to help the region strengthen capabilities, fuel growth, and drive financial results. This role reports to a Sr Regional LP Manager, AD of Physical Security and Asset Protection, or the Sr Director of Risk.

Internal and External Theft Management
  • Conduct investigations and surveillance of all potential losses, problems or deficiencies reported or discovered while partnering with risk hierarchy.
  • Document, and maintain reporting of, findings, recommendations and action taken in case investigation consistent with local laws and company standards.
  • Monitor & report on all loss trends that adversely affect the business, capturing exactly what the loss opportunity was and how future avoidance can be achieved.
  • Assess, audit, and monitor all physical security attributes within all stores which are in place to protect Team Members, Customers and Company property.
  • Collaboratively participate in group discussion regarding any large internal case that may affect a store's ability to properly function prior to making final investigative decisions.
Underperforming Store Focus
  • Participate in monthly business meetings geared toward the identification of struggling stores using the Risk Index.
  • Conduct store visits, DVR reviews, audits.
  • Document and actively communicate LP & Safety trends, action plans, execution, surfaced through LP intervention and action plan follow up of underperforming stores.
  • Safety Standards
  • Conduct periodic store visits and audits of store safety standards to identify potential losses, problems, or deficiencies.
  • Drive store compliance with our Joint Health and Safety Committee Program ensuring all stores have active committees in place.
  • Identify and communicate safety concerns and pass involving the organizations Safety Program Manager as needed.
  • Guide stores in the effective implementation of Company required Safety training and Safety Poster program.
  • Monitor & report safety improvement plans, execution, status, success & opportunity.

Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience along with working knowledge applicable laws & industry standards.
  • Investigation & interrogation credentials, certification, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in a multi-unit LP role across broad geography.
  • Consistent history of delivering key metrics, elevated level of energy, commitment, optimism and passion about the business and LP & Risk profession.
  • Comfortable and adaptable to using technology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior organizational, prioritization and time management skills, blended with sound judgment and initiative.
  • Keen sense of self confidence, balanced by genuine humility, with the ability to respectfully challenge & influence up, down, and sideways with a unique and powerful perspective.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry items weighing less than 5 lbs. Will occasionally need to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally reaching various levels and directions to inspect and manage merchandise, validate work processes, collaborate with the team and assist customers.
  • Possess dexterity for complex hand-eye tasks, including keyboarding, writing on documents/forms.
  • Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending, and twisting and occasional kneeling needed to collaborate with the team, and assist customers.
  • Frequently required to read written & electronic documents.
  • Continuously needs to hear and verbally communicate to interact with and respond to management, team members, and customers. Will need to hear requests in person, via intercom and telephone.
  • Will rarely be exposed to hazardous machinery (compactor, baler, Big Joe), solvents (cleaners, detergents), radiation (Microwave in break room), continuously exposed to dust and frequently exposed to temperature fluctuations.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally; use of personal vehicle is required.

Travel: This position requires 75% travel, most of which is local. The role will cover the greater Vancouver BC area and some surrounding Provinces as needed.

Pay: $100,000 - $110,000 annualized
