Job Summary: Perform high-quality diagnostic sonography exams to capture detailed images of anatomy and pathology for radiologist interpretation, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
Essential Functions:
  • Conduct various sonography exams including abdomen, breast, renal, obstetric, gynecologic, thyroid, scrotal, venous doppler, limited venous arterial, and prostate, as well as assist radiologists with invasive procedures.
  • Choose appropriate ultrasound equipment and transducers, adjusting settings based on the organ and exam requirements.
  • Enter patient and exam data into ultrasound systems, ensuring accurate documentation and image submission to PACS.
  • Guide patients through the exam process, explaining procedures and assisting with positioning.
  • Utilize electronic health records (EHR) to track patient check-in, code procedures, and access prior studies.
  • Communicate with patients and providers to clarify exam details and address questions.
  • Assist with patient transportation as needed.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an accredited sonography program with successful completion of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification in at least one discipline.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
Experience:
  • Understanding of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with ultrasound procedures interpreted by radiologists.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and at least one year of sonography experience.
  • Experience with software such as Stentor, EPIC, Microsoft Office, and internet applications is highly desirable.
