Apprentice Mold Maker / ToolmakerMatrix Plastic Products is looking for a motivated, hands-on Apprentice Mold Maker / Toolmaker to join our plastic injection molding team in our brand new Bloomingdale facility. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced mold makers to learn the skills of the trade while assisting in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of precision molds and mold components used in our manufacturing operations. As an apprentice, you'll gain valuable, hands-on experience performing essential mold-making tasks, ensuring molds meet strict quality and performance standards through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

In addition to on-the-job training, you'll participate in a structured apprenticeship program coordinated through the Technology & Manufacturing Association (TMA), providing classroom instruction and industry-recognized training to support your career growth.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities will include manufacturing mold components utilizing various shop equipment and mold maintenance/repair. Looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:Mechanical aptitudeAttention to detailCommunicates and works well with othersSelf-starter who can work independentlyAbility to operate shop equipment (Vertical mills and surface grinders) a plusKnowledge of plastic injection molds a plusPreferred Skills/Knowledge:Experience in programming automation equipmentGood math skillsAttention to detailGood oral and written communication skillsOrganizational skillsTime management skillsInterpersonal skillsAnalytical skillsEducation Level / Required Certification: High School Diploma or GED requiredCompensation and Benefits:The starting rate for this position is $19/hr.401(k) & 401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insuranceShort-Term & Long-Term DisabilityPaid time offVision insuranceEssential Job Duties:Participate in the repair and maintenance of existing molds, identifying and rectifying defects to ensure proper functionalityFrequently move materials and mold components weighing up to 50 pounds across the manufacturing floor and work areas for various needsConstantly operate hand and power tools to prepare, inspect, and position mold materials and componentsOccasionally position self to work on molds at various heights and in confined spacesHave the ability to communicate information and ideas to supervisors and colleagues regarding the progress and any issues related to mold making. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situationsHave the ability to observe details at close range to inspect mold components for accuracy and defectsDetect and identify any deviations from specifications during the mold-making processAdheres to all safety procedures and guidelines in the performance of dutiesMaintains a clean and organized work areaAdditional Information:Job Type: Full-time.Shift and Schedule: Day shift, 8-10 hour shift, Mon-FriLocation: Bloomingdale, IL (100% on-site, in-person)Employment Verification:Matrix participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.EOE, including disability/vets
