Part-Time Appraiser I

The City of Roanoke is seeking a Part-Time Appraiser I to appraise residential and/non-complex multi-family real property in the City. The successful candidate will make field appraisals of real property, answer inquiries concerning appraisals when possible, and assist in providing coverage of the main office work station when needed. They will also interview persons familiar with property; inspect property; search public records of sales, leases, assessments and other transactions to determine proper value.

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university supplemented by courses in real estate, law, computer science, or related field; related experience and/or training in real estate appraisal is desirable but not required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must be willing to obtain a Commonwealth of Virginia Certified Residential Appraiser license within 3 years of appointment.
