Applications Development Technology Lead – Vice PresidentWe are seeking a Vice President (VP) of Software Engineering who combines technical leadership with hands-on technical expertise. This role is ideal for a senior software engineer passionate about building software at scale using cloud-native architecture, data engineering best practices, and modern UI development with React, while driving Generative AI adoption for business use cases within a SAFe Agile operating model.You will lead large-scale engineering initiatives, mentor junior engineering talent, and actively contribute to solution design and development.Key Responsibilities:Technical Leadership & ExecutionAlign engineering initiatives with SAFe Agile principles, ensuring predictable delivery and continuous improvement.Architect scalable, high-performing systems using cloud-native architecture and proven design patterns.Build foundational frameworks across middleware and UI to accelerate development and reduce maintenance overhead.Lead data engineering efforts, including:Data modelingData pipelines (ETL/ELT)Batch and streaming data processingData governance (catalog/lineage) and quality enginesBig data technologiesDrive Generative AI adoption across product lines, leveraging Python, LLMs, Google's ADK and AI-driven automation to accelerate SDLC and deliver business value.Hands-on Technical LeadershipActively contributes to product requirements analysis and solution architecture.Lead proof-of-concepts, design and development of critical components, and code reviews.Implement foundational components across Java and React for enterprise-grade applications.Champion AI-based code generation tools to automate repetitive engineering tasks.Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability.People & Process LeadershipMentor and lead a global team of engineers.Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and accountability.Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and performance standards.Required Skills & Experience:6+ years in software engineering, with hands-on experienceProven experience in cloud-native architecture and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).Strong expertise in microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.Hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, and modern front-end frameworks.Deep experience in data engineering, including pipelines (ETL/ELT), data storage (warehouses, lakes), batch/stream processing, data modeling, governance, and big data technologies.Familiarity with Generative AI technologies (LLMs, prompt engineering, AI integration patterns, Agentic AI).Strong understanding of SAFe Agile framework and enterprise-scale agile delivery.Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, container orchestration, and observability tools.Experience in large-scale financial services enterprise environments.Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive reporting skills.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Financial Risk and Data.Certifications in Cloud Architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP) and SAFe Agile.Certification in AI/ML technologies such as Google ADKEducation:Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experienceJob Family Group:TechnologyJob Family:Applications DevelopmentTime Type:Full timePrimary Location:Rutherford New Jersey United StatesPrimary Location Full Time Salary Range:$142,320.00 - $213,480.00In addition to salary, Citi's offerings may also include, for eligible employees, discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
