As an Agile Product Owner, you will represent business stakeholders to elicit, understand, analyze, document, refine and communicate business needs so that delivery teams can build effective solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
* Manages, prioritizes, and assesses the impact of all work items, including new features and defects, deciding to create, fix or defer at the project level.
* Leads sprint planning and demonstration sessions with technical and business analysts.
* Serves as the business requirements expert, translating business and technical requirements into epics, features, and stories for agile development cycles.
* Acts as the day-to-day decision maker and provides continual business guidance for an Agile team.
* Engages with line-of-business partners to source and prioritize requirements.
* Defines business requirements for products and programs, prioritizing needs and required features.
* Facilitates user acceptance testing prior to release of application updates.
* Maintains a prioritized backlog of stories and provides continual business guidance for the execution team.
* Works with management and stakeholders to understand and validate business strategy, vision, and customer needs.
* Creates prioritized stories based on program backlog features and strategic priorities set by stakeholders.
* Partners with sponsors, stakeholders, and IT to facilitate, define, and document relevant business processes.
* Provides just-in-time story elaboration to designers, analysts, developers, testers and others to align releases with product roadmaps.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
* Ten (10) years of relevant experience in process improvement, project delivery, business/requirements analysis, or business operations/product line.
* SAFe Practitioner (SP), SAFe Agilist, or SAFe Product Owner/Manager certification (Preferences).
Skills and Competencies
* Effective prioritization and execution under pressure.
* Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
* Experience with Process Engineering methodologies and Change Management practices.
* Working knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and other technical software delivery methodologies.
* Ability to use data and analytics to formulate recommendations and drive business improvements.
* Strong customer service orientation.
Application Portfolio Management Responsibilities
* Develop and implement governance frameworks for the application portfolio.
* Define policies, standards, and procedures for application selection, prioritization, and retirement.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize projects and investments based on business value, risk, and technical feasibility.
* Oversee the lifecycle of applications, evaluating fit and monitoring performance, usage, and costs.
* Align portfolio activities with enterprise architecture strategy and facilitate architecture reviews.
* Serve as subject‑matter expert for the APM platform (e.g., ServiceNow), configuring and customizing it to support portfolio management processes.
* Train users and provide ongoing support for the platform.
Additional Qualifications
* Proven experience in application portfolio management, enterprise architecture governance, and IT service management.
* Hands‑on experience with APM platforms such as ServiceNow, LeanIX, Apptio, or similar tools.
* Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), and methodologies.
* Project management experience and certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL) are desirable.
Location and Compensation
This position is full‑time and must be within a reasonable driving distance to a Branch, Consumer Operations, or Professional Office Building. Primary locations include Birmingham, AL; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not provided; exceptions may be made for current Regions associates working remotely.
Pay range for the position: Minimum $126,564.40 USD; Median $162,580.00 USD. Incentive pay plans and participation in the Long Term Incentive Plan are available.
