Applications Engineer – Industrial Ovens

Location: Sandusky, OH

Salary: $90,000-120,000

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a technically driven Applications Engineer to support our industrial oven product line. This role combines engineering expertise, customer interaction, and business development activities to develop customized solutions that meet customer requirements. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a solid mechanical engineering background and experience supporting capital equipment or industrial machinery applications.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new business opportunities and support sales growth initiatives
• Review customer RFQs and develop technical solutions using company products
• Work directly with customers to understand application requirements and recommend equipment solutions
• Perform engineering calculations related to oven sizing, thermal performance, and system requirements
• Develop proposal drawings, equipment layouts, and application documentation using CAD software
• Prepare cost estimates for custom and non-standard equipment
• Generate, submit, and follow up on quotations
• Provide technical support to sales, engineering, manufacturing, and production teams
• Assist with product design, fabrication, testing, installation, and commissioning activities as needed
• Support continuous improvement efforts and other projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of industrial equipment applications, design principles, and industry standards
• Experience reviewing specifications and translating customer requirements into engineered solutions
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and cost estimation methods
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
• Basic understanding of electrical controls and automation systems
• Strong communication, presentation, and customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in industrial equipment, capital equipment, thermal processing, or related industries
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered

Preferred Experience

• Industrial ovens, furnaces, thermal processing equipment, or heat-treat systems
• Applications engineering, technical sales, project engineering, or product engineering
• Custom equipment design and quotation development
• Customer-facing engineering support
