Application Engineer – Diamond Grinding WheelsLocation: Remote (with Domestic & International Travel) – Reporting to Noblesville, IN Facility Experience Level: Mid–Senior (5+ Years) Industry: Tool & Cutter Grinding, Fine Grinding, Electronics ManufacturingPosition Overview: We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer specializing in diamond grinding wheels to support customers across the tool & cutter, fine grinding, and electronic sectors. This role combines deep technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, providing application support, process optimization, and technical solutions while working remotely and traveling as needed.Key Responsibilities:Provide technical application support for diamond grinding wheels in tool & cutter, fine grinding, and electronic manufacturing environmentsRecommend wheel specifications, bonds, grits, and process parameters to optimize customer grinding operationsConduct on-site and remote trials, demonstrations, and troubleshooting at customer facilitiesCollaborate with sales, R&D, and manufacturing teams to develop tailored solutions for customer needsAnalyze customer processes and propose improvements for productivity, quality, and cost reductionSupport new product introductions and continuous improvement initiativesDeliver technical training to customers and internal teamsPrepare technical reports, application documentation, and trial resultsTravel domestically and internationally as required while maintaining a remote work structureRequired Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with diamond grinding wheelsStrong background in: tool & cutter grinding, fine grinding applications, electronic and precision component grindingSolid understanding of grinding processes, wheel selection, and surface finish requirementsProven experience working directly with customers in a technical or applications roleAbility to troubleshoot complex grinding challenges independentlyStrong communication and presentation skillsWillingness and ability to travel domestically and internationallyPreferred Qualifications:Engineering degree or equivalent technical training (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or similar)Experience with CNC grinding machines and automationKnowledge of superabrasives (diamond and CBN) and advanced bond systemsExposure to international customers or global manufacturing environmentsBenefits & Compensation:Competitive compensation based on experienceComprehensive benefits package, including: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement planFully remote work environment with flexible schedulingTravel opportunities across domestic and international marketsCollaborative, technically driven work cultureCompany Description:Lapmaster International, LLC is a leading international precision machine tool builder headquartered in Chicago's Northwest suburbs near O'Hare Airport.
