Job TitleThe client Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) was created by the legislature in 1870, vested with broad powers to ensure that the insurance industry responsibly and adequately met the insurance needs of client citizens. OCI Information Technology (OCI IT) supports and manages the many applications for the benefit of OCI. OCI IT is looking for an additional experienced Application Architect III to support, maintain, and develop various applications including those using configured software; low code and no code software; web-based solutions.ExperienceRequired:At least six years of experience providing architectural and big picture oversight for development of new or enhanced software products.Responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of the software architecture across the system and providing day-to-day technical guidance to the development teams.Experience with configured software; low code and no code software.The ability to be a value-add resource by being proactive and applying analytical and critical thinking to work toward a successful outcome, not just following a list of steps.Strong knowledge of SDLC best practices; strong ability to identify root cause; general knowledge of database best practices.Troubleshooting pre-existing solutions with minimal existing documentation.Creating and editing business processes and technical documentation.Working directly with business users to resolve production issues timely and correctly.Strong communication skills, including verbal (phone/video) and written (email).Strong analytical, organizational, and task management skills.Desire and ability to actively participate in business requirements gathering sessions and technical reviews.Strongly Desired:SQL scripting; Alteryx or other ETL tools.OnBase; Alfresco; PerfectForms.Server Administration knowledge; Jira.State and/or Local Government work history.Windows Server administration experience.Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid SDLC (and the ability to determine the best approach given a business need).Example Responsibilities:The ability to be a value-add resource by being proactive and applying analytical and critical thinking to work toward a successful outcome, not just following a list of steps.User support and triage of issues, and timely resolution of assigned tickets.Identifying patterns of tickets to isolate true root cause and propose solutions and/or changes.Understanding business requirements to achieve OCI’s desired outcomes, while adhering to agency policies and procedures.Suggesting, and demonstrating, conceptual designs to improve the user experience.High quality support of applications and design of new applications with minimal oversight.Communication of important updates and/or necessary changes to Management, where appropriateRecommendation for design improvements to existing solutions.Standard development environment requirements, to include documentation and task tracking.Support for other OCI IT team initiatives as needed.
