Our Austin office is seeking an experienced Attorney specializing in Complex Litigation and Appeals to represent clients throughout the State of Texas.
** Key Responsibilities: **
- Serve as first chair counsel at trial and on appeal in both Texas state and federal courts.
- Provide strategic legal advice and consultation to attorneys within the firm and clients statewide regarding litigation and appellate strategy, discovery, pleadings, legal arguments, and evidentiary matters.
- Develop and implement effective litigation strategies to protect clients’ interests and achieve favorable outcomes.
- Advise the firm and clients on risk management and litigation avoidance, including best practices, policies, and procedures designed to minimize potential third-party claims and legal exposure.
- Analyze complex legal issues and provide practical recommendations regarding potential and ongoing litigation.
- Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive strategies for complex disputes and appeals.
** Ideal Candidate: **
- Strong experience handling complex litigation and appellate matters.
- Proven ability to serve as first chair in significant state and federal court matters.
- Excellent legal research, writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills.
- Strong understanding of Texas state and federal court procedures and rules of evidence.
- Ability to independently manage complex cases while effectively advising clients and colleagues.
- Excellent judgment, communication, and strategic problem-solving abilities.
** Requirements: **
- JD from an ABA approved school
- Civil appellate experience
- Must be licensed and in good standing in Texas
- Must be eligible to be admitted to all federal courts in Texas
- Texas delinquent tax background preferred but not required
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision
- Ability to engage with clients and local associations beneficial to client interests
- Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Spanish-speaking a plus
