nHours will be 7 am-5 pm but may vary. APP will assist in covering call when respective surgeon is on call. The position will also include seeing patients in the clinic and travel to outreach required 1-2 days per week (by flight and car depending on outreach) May work some weekends as directed by surgeons needs. First assist in surgery and round in the hospital.
nJob Summary
nThe Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care for patients with vascular diseases requiring surgical or medical intervention. The NP works collaboratively with vascular surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to manage preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care, aiming to optimize vascular health and patient outcomes. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with arterial, venous, and lymphatic disorders.
nOrder, review, and interpret diagnostic studies such as duplex ultrasounds, CT angiography, and vascular labs.
nCollaborate with vascular surgeons in surgical planning and patient management.
nProvide preoperative education and preparation including risk assessment and optimization.
nManage postoperative care including wound care, pain control, and monitoring for complications.
nMonitor patients in inpatient, outpatient, and vascular lab settings.
nCoordinate multidisciplinary care including vascular medicine, interventional radiology, and wound care specialists.
nEducate patients and families on disease processes, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and postoperative care.
nDocument clinical encounters and treatment plans accurately in electronic medical records.
nParticipate in vascular quality improvement initiatives and clinical research.
nThis position also provides on-call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours.
nQualifications
nCompletion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
nIf Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
nExperience in vascular surgery, cardiology, or related field preferred.
nCurrent licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
nCurrent Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
nState Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
nNational board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or ACNPC-AG), Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC). Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader: Family (FNP-BC) or (FNP–C), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or (A-GNP), Adult (ANP-C)
nObtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
