APP Neurosurgery
Location: BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital
Position Overview
- Assists in the delivery of medical care to the patient by reviewing and monitoring treatment and therapy plans in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Obtains medical and personal histories, performs physical exams, orders appropriate laboratory, diagnostic and radiographic tests and interprets results.
- Educates patients and families regarding the plan of care.
- Works in conjunction with multidisciplinary team for the management of neurosurgical and neuroendovascular patients.
- Assists surgeon in the operating room on spinal and cranial cases.
- Supports all neurosurgeons and neuroendovascular surgeons on a rotating basis.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 – 2 years’ experience as an APP is preferred but not required. Experience in neurosurgery, other surgery specialty, or neurology is preferred.
- Must be able to practice independently with strong clinical decision making; communicate clearly with patients and caregivers and be able to navigate well through the EMR (Epic).
- Is able to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
- Graduate of accredited PA/NP program with unrestricted license to practice as a PA/NP in the state of Michigan.
- Be able to support surgeons as OR first assist.
