Description

Bronson Healthcare is seeking to hire a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to work with our excellent hospitalist team.

Position Highlights

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients who are admitted to the Bronson hospitalist service, including managing chronic conditions, addressing acute medical issues, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
  • Work in the emergency department assisting with the admission of patients who are coming onto the hospitalist service.
  • Work shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Opportunity to participate in the Advanced Medicine Clinic.
  • Full-time opportunity rotating between Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, Bronson Methodist Hospital and Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Current unrestricted or pending licensure in the state of Michigan.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient‑centered care.
  • Licensure as Physician Assistant and state DEA license to prescribe medications.
  • Current prescriptive authority and collaborative agreement with oversight physician(s) in place.
  • Maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges.
  • Ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and other software relevant to the job.
  • Regularly communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing (using SBAR technique).
  • Communicate with internal customers such as physicians, multidisciplinary team, finance, management, and external customers such as patients, third‑party payers, community agencies on a daily basis and often simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive and focused histories and physical examinations; interpret laboratory and radiologic tests; correlate patient data to formulate a diagnosis; develop a treatment plan within scope of practice.
  • Assist in concurrent clinical management and coordinate care with multidisciplinary team to facilitate patient progress towards outcomes, including discharge or transfer of care.
  • Act as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team; identify common patient complications and utilize appropriate preventative measures.
  • Assist in the development and integration of quality measures/evidence into clinical practice.
  • Perform initial comprehensive assessment to determine if higher intensity of service is required; facilitate timely discharge/transfers to the appropriate level of care.
  • Evaluate and appropriately manage patients; evaluate lab, EKG and imaging studies; complete appropriate documentation to support billing, medical care, orders, progress notes.
  • Provide support for nursing questions and evaluate status changes for patients.
