About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Apigee Developer / Administrator with 5+ years of software engineering experience to lead the design, development, and administration of our enterprise Apigee API platform. This is a dual role for someone who can both build API proxies and shared flows and manage the underlying Apigee platform infrastructure.

You will play a key role in our transition from Apigee Edge to Apigee Hybrid deployment, ensuring our APIs are secure, scalable, and high-performing.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience:

• ✅ 5+ years of software engineering or platform engineering experience
• ✅ 5+ years hands-on with Google Apigee (Edge and/or Hybrid) in enterprise production environments
• ✅ Proven track record of designing, developing, and managing large-scale API solutions

Apigee Development Expertise:

• Hands-on mastery of Apigee Edge and Apigee Hybrid
• Deep understanding of Apigee core architecture:
• Edge Management Server, Router, Message Processor
• Analytics services, Developer Portal
• Cassandra data store, ZooKeeper coordination
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot the full Apigee stack – from API proxy design and shared flow development to tracing and underlying platform services
• Experience building:
• API proxies and shared flows
• Traffic management policies (rate limiting, spike arrest, quotas)
• Target servers, route rules, KVMs, caching, and message logging

Apigee Administration Expertise:

• Platform health monitoring, upgrades, and patching
• Capacity planning and performance tuning
• Apigee Hybrid deployment on Kubernetes
• Troubleshooting full-stack Apigee issues

API Security & Networking:

• OAuth 2.0 (client credentials, authorization code flows)
• JSON Web Tokens (JWT) validation and generation
• API key management, TLS/mTLS encryption
• Authentication/authorization policies in Apigee
• Experience integrating API gateways with enterprise identity providers (e.g., PingFederate, Okta) for SSO and federated OAuth/JWT validation
• Familiarity with firewalls, DNS, load balancers, and WAF/CDN (e.g., Akamai) as they relate to API routing and threat protection

Nice to Have:

• Terraform or infrastructure-as-code experience
• Kubernetes / GKE for Apigee Hybrid
• Experience with Akamai CDN integration
