Animal Services ManagerThe Fremont Police Department - Animal Services Division is recruiting for the position of Animal Services Manager. The Fremont Police Department Animal Services Unit is responsible for protecting public health and safety while promoting responsible pet ownership and compassionate animal care throughout the community. The Tri-City Animal Shelter serves the Cities of Fremont, Newark, and Union City and provides sheltering, adoption, licensing, field services, investigations, and community education programs. The Animal Services Manager serves as the operational leader of the Animal Services Unit and Tri-City Animal Shelter, overseeing staff, programs, contracts, and services that support both animals and residents across the Tri-City area.This position is ideal for an experienced leader who enjoys balancing animal welfare, public service, operational management, and community engagement. We are looking for someone who:Demonstrates strong leadership and supervisory skillsHas experience working within animal services, shelter operations, veterinary services, or animal control programsIs comfortable navigating challenging situations involving members of the public while maintaining professionalism and empathyHas experience managing contracts, budgets, and organizational prioritiesIs passionate about animal welfare and community educationValues collaboration and fostering a positive workplace cultureIf you enjoy leading teams, building partnerships, and improving services that positively impact animals and the community, this is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference.Under general direction, the Animal Services Manager plans, organizes, and supervises the activities of the Animal Services Unit, including shelter operations, licensing, investigations, enforcement activities, public education initiatives, and contract administration.

Responsibilities include managing the Tri-City Animal Shelter, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, overseeing veterinary and sheltering services, supervising field and shelter operations, supporting staff development, managing contracts and budgets, and representing the Animal Services Unit with community stakeholders, partner agencies, and elected officials as appropriate.This position will remain open until filled - however, interested applicants are encouraged to apply immediately.
