Responds to the anesthetic needs of patients and coordinates their care with other perioperative personnel during the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. Administers anesthesia services to patients for medical and surgical procedures relevant to the facility under the medical direction of staff anesthesiologist.
Key accountabilities include:
- Formulates anesthetic plan with anesthesiologist and discusses plan with the patient.
- Performs special line placement procedures and airway management.
- Documents patient data, including pre-anesthesia assessment and intraoperative care.
- Maintains age-specific competence in anesthesia technical skills and acquires new knowledge of anesthesia pharmacology and technology.
- Provides a safe practice environment, minimizing risk of infection, injury, and equipment failure.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Nurse Anesthesia.
- No previous experience required.
- Required certifications/registrations/licensure: SC RN-Advanced Practice and CRNA-Nurse Anesthetist.
Other Required Skills and Experience:
- Mathematical skills.
- Patient equipment operation (vitals, suction, defib).
