Anesthesiologist (MD/DO)The Anesthesiologist is responsible for the perioperative care of patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures requiring anesthesia services. This role includes the evaluation and management of patients before, during, and after anesthesia, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal clinical outcomes.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations, including medical history review, physical examination, and risk assessmentDevelop and implement individualized anesthesia care plansAdminister general, regional, and monitored anesthesia careMonitor patient vital signs and physiologic status throughout proceduresManage airway, ventilation, hemodynamics, and fluid balance during anesthesiaProvide post-anesthesia care and pain managementRespond to perioperative emergencies and complicationsCollaborate with surgeons, proceduralists, nurses, and anesthesia care team membersSupervise and provide medical direction to CRNAs, anesthesiology assistants, and trainees as applicableMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance initiativesAdhere to all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited anesthesiology residency programBoard-eligible or board-certified in AnesthesiologyAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilityACLS and BLS certificationSkills and CompetenciesStrong clinical judgment and decision-making skillsExpertise in airway management and anesthetic techniquesAbility to work effectively in high-acuity and time-sensitive environmentsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsCommitment to patient safety, quality care, and professionalismAbility to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary teamWork EnvironmentHospital operating rooms, ambulatory surgery centers, procedural suites, and labor and delivery unitsMay include on-call, nights, weekends, or holiday coverage depending on practice needsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsManual dexterity for airway management and procedural tasksVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient monitoringMust maintain state certification and/or licensure.
