Sanford Health is seeking a BE/BC Anesthesiologist to join Black Hills Surgical Hospital in Rapid City, SD. This role involves working with a team of Anesthesiologists and CRNAs to cover eleven operating rooms, focusing on a robust regional practice and oversight of pre- and post-anesthesia care units. The position offers a great work-recreation balance with flexible shifts and minimal weekend engagement in a nationally recognized orthopedic and spine center of excellence.

Practice Info

  • Team comprised of three Anesthesiologists and twenty-two CRNAs
  • Cover eleven operating rooms in a care team supervision approach
  • Robust regional practice shared between anesthetists and anesthesiologists
  • Devoted Block Nurse running the latest in GE ultrasound units, reaching approximately 6000 blocks per year
  • Oversight of the pre and post anesthesia care units
  • Primary focus on providing cutting edge total joint replacement, extensive Sport Medicine, Ortho and Neuro spine, Gen Ortho, ENT, Gen Surg, Plastics and GYN

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examinations
  • Provide comprehensive management of patients of all ages rendered unconscious or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgical, obstetrical procedures
  • Ensure patients are properly cleared for surgery in conjunction with a pre-anesthesia testing clinic
  • Collaborate with surgeons and nursing alike on complicated patients, ensuring safe anesthetic delivery

Requirements

  • BE/BC Anesthesiologist
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated residency/fellowship of at least 3-4 years' duration in Anesthesia accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
  • Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
  • If not board certified at time of application but completed residency within last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from completion date
  • Demonstrate active involvement in at least 200 Anesthesia cases in the last 24 months (if not applying directly out of residency or if quality profile is unavailable)
