Anesthesiologist Core Faculty

Carilion Clinic Department of Anesthesia and Virginia Tech Carilion (VTC) School of Medicine is seeking an Anesthesiologist to join their team in Roanoke, Virginia. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a new Anesthesia Residency Program, targeted to begin in Summer 2027. The position includes clinical responsibilities at Carilion Medical Center, an 835-bed tertiary academic health center, and an appointment at Virginia Tech.

• Clinical responsibilities in the Anesthesia Department at Carilion Medical Center (CMC)
• CMC is an 835-bed tertiary academic health center
• CMC is a Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center with 49 anesthetizing locations and NORA rooms
• Appointment at Virginia Tech in the tenure track at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Professor
• Research interest with Fralin Biomedical Research Institute-VT is supported

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the Anesthesia Department at Carilion Medical Center (CMC)

Compensation

• Competitive Salary which includes Guaranteed Base Salary plus incentive plans based on quality criteria, scorecard initiatives, and productivity
• Two tier bonus plans
• Student Loan Forgiveness is negotiable
• Salary Range: $500,000 to $635,000
• Eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary
• Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency
• ABA Board certification or Board eligibility
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia techniques, medications, and equipment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations
