Position Overview

The College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University (NC State) invites outstanding candidates to apply for three open 3‑year residency positions in veterinary anatomic pathology beginning July 2027. The training program focuses on hands‑on learning of anatomic pathology and ACVP board preparation under the supervision of eight ACVP board‑certified anatomic pathologists, with special interests in aquatics/fish, swine, cancer, oral, ocular pathology and research.

The resident will experience a busy, varied caseload on both necropsy and biopsy services with curricular teaching and research opportunities. Cases are predominantly cats, dogs, small ruminants, horses, exotics, zoo animals, aquatics, with smaller numbers of lab animals, cows, poultry, and pigs. One position may have flexibility to pursue a specialized track with increased aquatic pathology service.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree from a North American AVMA‑accredited or international AVMA‑listed veterinary college, have an excellent academic record, strong communication skills, and be committed to a career in veterinary anatomic pathology.

Compensation

Stipend will begin at $54,000 per year.

Start Date

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., occasional after‑hours work.
