Sanford Health is seeking a Board Certified AP/CP Pathologist with Cytopathology or Breast subspecialty fellowship training for a full-time position in Fargo, North Dakota. This role offers the opportunity to join a collegial group of 14 subspecialty-trained pathologists who prioritize work/life balance and equal sharing of workload. The successful candidate will primarily sign out cases in their fellowship-trained areas, working closely with multidisciplinary teams at the Roger Maris Cancer Center and Edith Sanford Breast Center.
Practice Info
- Multi-subspecialty pathology group of 14 pathologists
- Practice crafted to allow pathologists to sign out primarily or solely in their fellowship-trained areas
- Department works closely with the Roger Maris Cancer Center and the Edith Sanford Breast Center, along with multidisciplinary subspecialists in radiology, surgery, and oncology
- Wide variety of complex and routine cases across organ systems, including rare/interesting cases
- Grossing, histology, and cytology labs are on-site with pathologists
- PA's & grossing staff perform all gross dissections, including frozen sections
Responsibilities
- Provide consultation to diagnose, rule out, and monitor disease using information from microscopic examination of tissue specimens, cell samples, and body fluids
- Provide consultation to diagnose, rule out, and monitor disease using information from clinical laboratory tests on body fluids and secretions in a lab setting
- Analyze lab tests and interpret the results
- Inform other physicians of the patient's results
Compensation
- Guaranteed competitive salary first 2 years with upside after year 1
- Upside is equal across pathologists with no partner buy-in

Shift & Schedule
- 1.0 FTE position
- Infrequent on-call duties (5-6 weeks/year) and non-burdensome/light
- Pathology technician is also on-call 24/7/365 to support, including cutting frozen sections for on-call pathologist
- Minimal to no travel required
- No autopsies
Requirements
- AP/CP Board Certified
- Cytopathology or Breast subspecialty fellowship-trained pathologist
- Additional surgical pathology fellowship training preferred but not required
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- Successful completion of a Pathology residency program in clinical and/or anatomic pathology that is accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
- Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
- If not board certified at the time of application but completed residency within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of residency training
