Analyst/Developer - Specialty 2 - Power BI SpecialistLocation: Peoria, ILDuration: 6 monthsRole Definition: Support enhancements to existing Power BI reports by adding new fields and creating measures for improved filtering. Migrate reports from Power BI Report Builder to Power BI Desktop. Develop new reports to support the Interoperability Accreditation Framework (IAF) and Dealer Progress Tracking.Responsibilities:Collaborate with the Caterpillar IT Alation Support team to restructure Snowflake schemas, introducing separate Domain and Subdomain fields.Update existing Power BI reports to incorporate the new Domain and Subdomain fields.Create measures in Power BI to enable roll-up filtering and reporting at both Critical Data Domain and Subdomain levels.Propose and design new reports to support the Interoperability Accreditation Framework (IAF) and Dealer Progress Tracking.Serve as a subject matter expert in Power BI Desktop and provide knowledge transfer to team members.Work independently while proactively seeking clarification when needed.Skill Descriptors:Expertise in Snowflake schema design and restructuring.Proficient in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Report Builder.Skilled in updating, converting, and developing Power BI reports.Effective collaborator with IT teams to ensure seamless implementation.Capable of enhancing data governance evidence at the subdomain level.Work independently while proactively seeking clarification.Strong Communication skills to provide knowledge transfer to team members.Position's Contributions to Work Group:This role provides Power BI expertise to the Office of Data Excellence, supporting the development and enhancement of reports related to Data Governance IT Controls Evidence, the Interoperability Accreditation Framework (IAF), and Dealer Progress Tracking.The Office of Data Excellence leads Enterprise Data Strategy, Enterprise Data Governance, and Governance IT Controls.This position addresses a critical skill and bandwidth gap within the team.Education & Experience Required:Years of experience: 2- 4 yearsDegree requirement: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related fieldDo you accept internships as job experience: Yes, if they involve substantial Power BI work or relevant data analytics tasks such as:Building dashboards or reportsWorking with SQL or data modelingAre there past or additional job titles or roles that would provide comparable background to this role: Reporting Analyst, BI Developer, Data Visualization SpecialistTop 3 Skills:Advanced Power BI DevelopmentData Modeling & DAXETL & Data IntegrationAdditional Technical Skills (Required):SQL proficiencyPower Query (M Language)Data Warehousing ConceptsAdditional Technical Skills (Desired):Power Platform IntegrationREST APIsSoft Skills (Required):Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving data inconsistencies and proposing effective solutions.Knowledge Sharing: Willingness to transfer expertise and mentor team members on Power BI best practicesAnalytical Thinking: Ability to interpret business needs and translate them into actionable insights.Communication Skills: Clear articulation of findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Disqualifiers/Red Flags/Overqualifications:Choppy Job tenure
