Job Summary

American Express Travel Related Administrations Organization, Inc. is hiring a Senior Data Engineer. Salary: $20-30/Hour. Location: Juneau, USA. Educational Requirement: Graduate (Four‑year degree in Software Engineering, Design, Data Architecture, or a related STEM field).

Responsibilities

• Work with item groups to understand business information needs, define data requirements and sources, and develop data engineering solutions.
• Record data requirements and user stories, and maintain data models to ensure consistent integration with existing data structures.
• Manage and evolve data models and their associated metadata to support business portfolios.
• Perform data architecture audits, support data testing, and provide production support for data frameworks and pipelines.
• Plan data pipeline schedules for continuous runs and monitor data pipeline performance based on industry trends, new developments, known failures, and issues.
• Collaborate with teams to translate data requirements into functional data models and support the development of these models.
• Work remotely up to three days per week.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in each of the following areas:

• Designing and tuning relational data sets (RDS or RDMS).
• Data improvement and support of OLTP and OLAP frameworks.
• Transforming conceptual data models into logical data models.
• Applying Spark strategies.
• Data development and support of Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) frameworks.
• Experience with large data platforms, including Apache, Hadoop, Hive, and distributed file systems.
• Data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, data profiling, quality, security, and layered validation.
• Proficiency with IBM DB2, Kafka, Linux, MemSQL, MySQL, Netezza, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, data modeling, SQL tuning, and Sqoop.
