Ambulatory Psychiatrist

Carilion Clinic VTCSOM in Roanoke, Virginia, is seeking an Ambulatory Psychiatrist to join their Gaining Access to Psychiatric Care (GAP) Clinic. This role involves providing short-term psychiatric care to patients recently seen in the Emergency Department who lack established psychiatric care. The position offers a faculty appointment and the opportunity to work within a strong and growing Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.

Practice Info

• Practice Setting: GAP Clinic (Gaining Access to Psychiatric Care)
• The clinic sees patients who have been seen in the Emergency Department and may not be established with a psychiatrist or cannot get into one within 7 days of their ED encounter.
• Patients are typically seen in GAP care for 1-3 visits.
• The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
• Virtual care may be an option, with the expectation that the individual is licensed and resides within the state of Virginia.
• The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine is based in Roanoke, Virginia, with clinical, educational, and research sites throughout the region.

Responsibilities

• See patients during operational hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)
• Participate in standard on-call rotations within the Department of Psychiatry
• May supervise ACPs operating within the clinic, as required by organizational policy
• Diagnose and manage mental health disorders such as bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, chronic psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders in an outpatient psychiatric setting
• Facilitate transfer of individuals to higher levels of management, such as inpatient care, if a disorder requires more intense treatment

Compensation

• Min Starting Salary: $286,875
• Max Starting Salary: $358,207
• Eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs
• Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary

Requirements
