Student Team Member Job Description
Our Culture
Career Services empowers students and alumni to achieve their career goals by providing comprehensive resources, personalized guidance, and meaningful opportunities. Through career exploration, workshops, fairs, and on-campus employer visits, we foster an environment where students can actively shape their career paths. We also collaborate with employers to build strong connections with the campus community, helping them meet their recruitment needs and hiring goals

Job Responsibilities
As a student employee, you will be expected to fulfill a year commitment, primarily assisting with:
Engaging in all aspects of working at the front desk of the Career Center
Accepting tasks and projects, as assigned, including Alumni & Career Services event assistance
Manage the CMU Business Closet at all locations, accepting donations and sorting/bagging items
Assisting the Alumni & Career Services staff with ACS events (including set-up and tear-down)
Ensuring office is well organized, clean, and maintained
Updating information packets, providing a high-level of attention to detail
Answering the Career Services phone politely and professionally
Providing friendly customer service to students, alumni, and employers, and be knowledgeable of campus/community resources
Assisting with checking and responding to the Career Services main email account
Assisting students with the operation of Handshake and other ACS resources
Making appointments for Career Services professional staff utilizing Handshake appointment's function and Microsoft Outlook calendar
Performing accurate and detailed data entry, when needed
Training
ACS Student Team Members are considered an essential part of Alumni & Career Services and will be required to attend training sessions at the beginning of the semester, as well as scheduled team meetings.
Qualifications
Have an interest in helping other college students
Demonstrate excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication
Be able to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems
Must be reliable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented
Be outgoing and energetic and have excellent customer service skills (in person and over the phone)
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Maintain professional behavior and dress appropriately (business casual)
Maintain a high level of confidentiality of student information
Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with a team of professionals and other students
Be a current undergraduate CMU student in good academic standing
Compensation
Work Study or MAVworks award required; to verify your award status, view the "Financial Aid Offers" link in your MAVzone
Students will start at an hourly rate of $15.16
