Job Title
Responsibilities related to the purposes of in-school suspension, including assisting students with classwork, supervision of students who have been disciplined, and to serve as a deterrent to future unacceptable behavior by the student.
Job Summary
7.5 hours per day; 5 days/week, 192 days/year
Essential Job Functions
- Ensure safety of students
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student records, free/reduced lunch forms, student test scores
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
- Attend meetings and in-services as required
- Assist with restroom breaks/lunch/recess
- Promote good social relationships between students
- Supervise general housekeeping duties
- Handle correspondence with Principal, Assistant Principal, Security and Teachers
- Duplicate materials for class if necessary
- Ensure all records and paperwork are accurate and updated
- Monitor and supervise students during arrival and dismissal of school
- Instruct students on rules and consequences of ALC
- Distribute assigned materials
- Maintain highly rigid structured/controlled classroom environment reflecting seriousness of student's unacceptable behavior
- Communicate with classroom teachers on lesson assignments
- Monitor students, as needed, in ALC
- Help de-escalate students in need of a time-out or students that are sent to the principal's office in elementary school
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma Ability to work effectively with others Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing Effective, active listening skills Organizational and problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or valid teaching license or substitute teacher license
