Overview

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is one of the largest departments in Maryland, employing nearly 12,000 people. The department seeks dedicated candidates to fulfill its mission of promoting safety and supporting restorative justice for offenders.

Position Duties

THIS ROLE ENGAGES WITH SUPERVISED INDIVIDUALS AND NOT IN AN INSTITUTION

• Plan and coordinate the work of Certified Supervised Counselors‑Alcohol and Drug and related support staff.
• Review case material to assure compliance with standards and procedures for providing addiction services.
• Conduct regular and comprehensive reviews of all unit staff to assess performance and ensure that each assessment meets Offender Services standards.
• Collect and submit necessary unit function data, including communication with agencies such as the Maryland Parole Commission (MPC), case management, Behavioral Health System Baltimore (BHSB), private community providers, and others as required by Offender Services protocol.
• Assist in planning in‑service training activities for Certified Supervised Counselors‑Alcohol and Drug and provide guidance to staff on various assessment skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications and license requirements to be considered. Education and experience requirements are as set by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists for Certified Associate Counselor Supervisor – Alcohol and Drug. Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

• Certification as a Certified Associate Counselor Supervisor – Alcohol and Drug by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
• When required to operate a motor vehicle, possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the State of Maryland.

Special Requirements

• Employees are subject to substance‑abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations .
