We are seeking an experienced Akamai CDN Engineer to lead configuration, optimization, and maintenance of Akamai CDN, WAF, and Bot Manager across customer-facing web and application environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in caching strategies, performance tuning, and automation, along with the ability to collaborate with development teams and grow into a technical leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, optimize, and maintain Akamai CDN, WAF, and Bot Manager for web and application environments.
- Implement caching and performance tuning to reduce latency and improve reliability.
- Partner with development teams to onboard new applications and validate CDN configurations.
- Perform regular updates and tuning of CDN, API security, and caching rules.
- Troubleshoot delivery issues such as latency, cache misses, and regional performance problems.
- Oversee bot management and CAPTCHA configurations to strengthen security posture.
- Monitor traffic and performance using Akamai Control Center and reporting dashboards.
- Automate configurations using Akamai APIs, CLI tools, or scripts (Python/Bash/Terraform).
- Advise multiple application teams on best practices for onboarding and caching strategies.
- Collaborate with developers to align Akamai setup with application functionality.
- Demonstrate leadership initiative and progress toward becoming the Akamai technical lead.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Akamai CDN, WAF, and Bot Manager in production environments.
- Expertise in caching configuration, CDN performance optimization, and traffic management.
- Hands‑on experience integrating Akamai with customer‑facing web applications and APIs.
- Strong understanding of API security, caching policies, and routing rules.
- Skilled in diagnosing and resolving latency or regional performance issues.
- Proficiency with Akamai tools such as mPulse, Ion, GTM, and Control Center.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with development teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in bot management tuning and CAPTCHA optimization.
- Prior leadership or mentorship experience with potential to step into a Tech Lead role.
- Industry experience in utilities or energy sectors.
