Job Title: AI Software Engineering Manager (LLM / Platform)
Location: Hybrid (Hoboken, NJ – 2–3 days onsite)
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a cross‑functional engineering team responsible for building and scaling a greenfield AI platform
- Balance hands‑on development (~30%) with leadership responsibilities, including system design, roadmap planning, and stakeholder management
- Drive the development of agentic AI systems and LLM‑powered applications within a cloud‑native architecture
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and executive stakeholders to define and deliver on technical strategy
- Mentor and grow engineering talent, including managing offshore team members and contributing to future hiring efforts
- Establish engineering best practices and ensure successful delivery of high‑quality, scalable software solutions
- Oversee sprint planning, execution, and team performance within an agile environment
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–10 years of software engineering experience, with 4–5 years in a people management or engineering leadership role
- Strong backend engineering experience with Python as a primary language
- Hands‑on experience building and deploying AI/LLM‑based systems in production, including familiarity with agentic frameworks such as LangChain
- Strong understanding of modern cloud environments, particularly AWS
- Proven experience managing engineering teams (not solely as a technical lead)
- Background in SaaS environments, either B2B or large‑scale B2C platforms
- Ability to balance technical depth with leadership, communication, and execution
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, low‑ego leadership style
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing distributed or offshore teams
- Familiarity with scaling engineering teams from contractor‑heavy to full‑time structures
- Exposure to large‑scale, user‑facing platforms with high traffic volumes
Compensation
- Base Salary: $190,000 – $200,000
- Bonus: 15% annual performance bonus
